No, due to our continuous supply of fish and invertebrates, we maintain a consistent fill rate throughout the week, with an average of 85% of items filled. To increase your chance of a higher fill rate it is best to order items available with larger quantities.
Are you able to special order items?
Yes, we can special order specific items that are not part of our typical inventory. For expensive and/or large items, a deposit is required. Additionally, there is no guarantee on time-frame of shipment for specially ordered items. Many species are seasonal and unavailable at different times throughout the year.
Do you use copper in your system?
Due to the inevitable stress from the transportation process, certain species are more likely to be susceptible to different diseases. To combat this we use a very high level of Ultraviolet Sterilisation as well as a trace level of copper on our system. This combination is very efficient in effectively reducing the amount of bacteria and protozoan infections. We also take special care to isolate species sensitive to copper medication by housing them in separate untreated systems.

How are the fish packed to ensure healthy arrival?
Conditioned saltwater fish are shipped in 100% Aquarium Systems Instant Ocean synthetic seawater which is properly mixed and aerated prior to packing. No chemicals are used in the shipping water. Saltwater fish are kept and shipped at a specific gravity at 1.021-1.024 and invertebrates are kept and shipped at 1.023-1.025. All of our fish and invertebrates are packed in heavy duty polyethylene bags custom made for each item to insure safe arrival. In addition, most of our bags utilize black liners to further reduce fish stress. Each bag is filled with fresh saltwater and pure oxygen is added for fish respiration. Temperatures along shipping routes are determined each day and heat or ice packs are added to individual boxes as needed. We use Styrofoam boxes for all shipments. A box charge is made depending on the style of shipping box used.
What carriers do you use to ship fish?
We use a combination of domestic airlines, Virgin, TGE (Toll) and select courier companies for same-day and overnight freight.
